The Case "Cameron Willingham"
hchristian111, 21:59h
‘Cameron Todd Willingham set his own house on fire, resulting in the death of his three children’ police said.
Amber, age 2, and twins Karmon and Kameron, age 1, died immediately.
Willingham’s neighbour told the police to have seen the man in front of the house. She wanted him to rescue the kids, but he refused. ‘He just stood there and did nothing’, the neighbour said.

PRO Death Penalty
Justice Many people think that killing a murderer is correct. Someone who kills must be killed in return. The Bible says "Eye for an Eye". That's often the opinion of the victim's family members. Some family members of crime victims may take years to recover from the shock and loss of a loved one.
Deterrence Many people think that the death penalty will deter other criminals from killing. Prison time is an effective deterrent, but some criminals think that it's not bad to "live in prison". So the death penalty deters murderers from killing.
Value of human life Life is so precious that someone who takes it from another person should pay for it with his or her own life.
Costs As soon as a convicted murderer is executed, there are no more costs to the state. Life in prison costs a lot of money (for housing and feeding the prisoner). The money saved could be used for "real important" matters.
Public safety Once a murderer is executed, there is no chance that he will break out of prison and kill again. Sometimes, murderers go on killing other people as soon as they are out of prison. The state has to protect the people from such persons.
CONTRA Death Penalty
Horror Some people consider the death penalty to be cruel and inhumane. Whether it's an electric chair, gas chamber, lethal injection, or hanging: it's barbaric! Since 1976, the USA hanged 3 people and gassed 11 men. We hate people like Saddam Hussein for murdering their own people while we continue to do the same.
Mental illness In the USA, 10% of all inmates killed were mentally ill - and therefore not responsible for their actions. In 2006, the state California killed a 76 year old man - he was blind and deaf.
Chance of Error Many convicted murderers are later found innocent. According to spiegelonline, one in seven people executed had been innocent...you can never be 100% sure that you execute the right one! There are several documented cases where DNA testing showed that innocent people were put to death by the government.
The family of the prisoner is punished by having their loved one murdered by the state. The family is usually innocent of the crime but has to suffer, as well.
Uselessness Killing a murderer does not bring his victim back to life. It achieves nothing but the death of another person. Is it not more effective to lock him up for the rest of his life?
